Scope and operator
This Privacy Policy explains how MotoM1, an independently operated service based in California ("MotoM1," "we," "us," or "our"), handles information when you use the MotoM1 website or installable web app (the "Service"). The Service is intended for people in the United States studying for a California motorcycle permit or license.
This policy applies only to MotoM1. It does not apply to websites or services that we link to, including the California DMV and Cloudflare's own websites.
Elleven Media Group designed the Service and provides hosting administration on behalf of MotoM1. In that role, it may access limited technical information available through the hosting platform only as reasonably necessary to deploy, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the Service. Cloudflare provides the underlying hosting, security, and analytics infrastructure.
Information stored only on your device
MotoM1 uses browser storage to remember study progress and restore active sessions. This may include question results, mastery status, answer counts, missed questions, mock-exam history, current study or test state, and whether you dismissed an install or gesture tip.
This information is stored in local storage or session storage in your browser. MotoM1 does not transmit it to the operator or Cloudflare. It leaves your device only if you choose to export a backup, copy a sync code, or otherwise share it. Imported backup files are read and processed locally in your browser. Sync codes and backups contain study activity, so protect them like other private files.
Technical information
Cloudflare delivers and protects the Service. When your browser requests a page, Cloudflare may process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, referring page, request time, network and security events, and performance measurements. This information comes from your browser and network automatically and is used to deliver content, maintain security, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, and understand aggregate performance.
We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics. Its browser beacon reports aggregate page-view, referral, device or browser category, country-level, and site-performance information. Cloudflare states that this product does not use cookies, local storage, fingerprinting, or personal data to identify or follow individual visitors. See Cloudflare's Web Analytics documentation.
Information you choose to send
If you email MotoM1, we receive your email address, any name or other information you include, the message and attachments, and ordinary email metadata. We use that information to respond, keep appropriate records, protect the Service, resolve disputes, and comply with law. Please do not send government identifiers, financial information, medical information, account passwords, or other information that is not necessary for your request.
Email is handled through Proton Mail. Proton processes email information under its own Privacy Policy and applicable terms.
How information is used
Technical information may be processed only as reasonably necessary to:
- provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service;
- measure aggregate usage and diagnose performance or reliability issues;
- detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, attacks, or unlawful activity;
- enforce our Terms of Use and protect users, the Service, and others; and
- comply with applicable law or a valid legal process.
How information is disclosed
We do not disclose personal information for advertising. Technical information may be processed by Cloudflare as our hosting, security, and analytics provider and by Elleven Media Group as our design and hosting administrator; disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, or investigate misuse; or transferred as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, or transfer of the Service, subject to this policy and applicable law.
Cloudflare's handling of information is also subject to its applicable privacy terms. External sites you choose to visit receive information according to their own practices, which MotoM1 does not control.
No sale, sharing, or targeted advertising
MotoM1 does not sell personal information. It does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, use targeted advertising, or knowingly create profiles about individual visitors. We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information through the Service. If these practices change, we will update this policy and provide any notice or choice required by law before the change applies.
Cookies, tracking signals, and GPC
MotoM1 does not use advertising cookies or analytics cookies. Functional browser storage is used only for the on-device features described above and is not used to track you across other websites or services. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookie-free and does not use local storage for analytics.
Because MotoM1 does not sell or share personal information, track individual users over time across third-party sites, or use cross-context behavioral advertising, browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals do not change the Service's behavior. The same no-sale and no-cross-site-tracking practices apply to every visitor. Other parties are not permitted to collect personal information through MotoM1 about your activities over time across unrelated websites.
Retention and control
Persistent study progress remains in your browser until you reset it in Settings, clear MotoM1's site data, or remove the installed app and its data. Session information generally remains until the session is completed, cleared, or removed by your browser. Disabling browser storage may prevent progress or active sessions from being saved.
Cloudflare controls retention of information it processes under its services and applicable settings. We do not maintain a user account, advertising profile, or operator-side copy of your study history.
We retain email communications only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain legitimate business and legal records, protect the Service, resolve disputes, and comply with law. Retention may vary with the nature of the communication and any applicable legal obligation.
Your privacy choices and rights
You can view your study activity in the Service, export it from Settings, correct it through continued use or an import, and delete it with Reset all progress or your browser's site-data controls. Because this information stays on your device, MotoM1 cannot access, identify, retrieve, correct, or delete it for you.
Depending on where you live and whether a law applies to MotoM1, you may have non-waivable rights concerning personal information, including rights to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy and to be free from discrimination for exercising a privacy right. MotoM1 does not maintain an operator-side user profile to which most such requests could be matched. Nothing in this policy limits rights granted by applicable law.
To ask a privacy question or exercise an applicable right concerning information held by the operator, email motom1ca@pm.me. We may need information reasonably necessary to verify and process a request. We will use verification information only for that purpose and respond within the period required by applicable law. You may use an authorized agent where the law permits.
Security
MotoM1 minimizes risk by keeping study history on your device and avoiding accounts. We and our provider use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the Service, but no browser, device, transmission, or storage system is completely secure. You are responsible for securing your device, browser profile, backup files, and sync codes.
Children's privacy
The Service is a general-audience study tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A child under 13 should not use the Service or provide information through it. If we learn that information was collected in violation of applicable children's privacy law, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the Service, our practices, or applicable requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and replace the effective date with the date the new version takes effect. For a material change, we will also provide a prominent notice in the Service when reasonably possible. We will not use previously collected personal information in a materially different manner without any notice or consent required by law.
